tripometer porblems

OK, well yesterday on my day off i was bored and i went to the junkyard to see Wat i might find, i picked up the lens for the speedometer, tach, other gauges..., anyways i replaced the lens, and now for reason my tripometer wont turn or even move. what did i do wrong or more importantly did i break anything? any advice would help :TY:

im actually not to sure, i think it is, because as soon as i put the new lens i reset the tripometer to read all zeros, but now it wont move at all, even when i drive it just stays put, i can still hit the reset button but nothing moves. :TY: for the reply

in that case it's prob the little plastic gear on the back of the speedo. they get old and the teeth break off. if you look around they can be found on the internet and other suppliers. it's not hard to change.

thanks guys for all Ur input and advice :TY: by the way is that the same gear thats attached to my odemeter. cus i was thinking since my trip... broke I'm figuring my Odo ain't far behind.

Yeah it's not too bad of a job... I had the same problem you did, but when I pulled my cluster apart my odo gear was intact. Turned out the reset button on the bezel was constantly hitting the reset mechanism in the cluster- I put the bezel back on with some metal washers between the cluster and the bezel and the problem went away. At least I have a spare odo gear now lol
