ok i know i havent been on here for a month or two, but i need a little help deciding on which route to take, as many know im doin a 03 5.4 lightning swap in my 98 saleen, and a major isses is clearance. i heard that some tubular k members drop the motor a few inches but also allows me a lil bit more header room.(i rather have header room), I either gonna go team z or qa1, i would go maximum motorsports but dont have that money, so gimme your thoughts. thanks

I hate to break it to you, but even with a tubular k, drop motor mounts, and a 4 inch cowl, youll still have to cut the hood.

However, the reference to project 'Frightening' above is a good reference, but i believe they use everything and put it in a foxbody.

Hop over to mustangboards.com, go into the Modular 4.6 area, and look in the 5.4 swap thread. That is basically the bible for anyone wanting to swap a 5.4 in. Also has quite a few guys who have done the lightning swap.

Before you pick a K Member let us know what you plan to do with the car when its done. I was ready to swap one in a few years back but my car is a street cruiser/DD and after speaking with many of the manufacturers I decided to stay stock for safety reasons. The only aftermarket K I would feel safe with in an accident is the MM unit. Most of the others I was looking at were designed for drag racing and not sturdy enough to handle a street accident of any severity.
