you have sniper special forces and SCT. what you plan to do with the car should determine which you go with.

I would just go with the Xcal3, it's cheaper and a tune is a tune, no matter what the shiney, gadgety thing that installs the tune does. Both offer data logging which is a fantastic feature.

SCT is nice, but if you go forced induction and plan to make changes to your setup very often then you can make a base tune with special forces, instead of paying for a mail order tune to load to the xcal. just made more sense for me to go sniper instead of SCT....

I use the Xcal 2, the 3 was coming out when I bought it but still had bugs in the system.
I like SCT because they are easy to find a local tuner if you don't have the know how to do it yourself.

good point Tony, finding an SCT tuner in most areas is about like finding a WalMart......

1Sic98gt,

you can go wrong with the SCT, I personally like the X2's better but you cannot find them anymore unless they are used. But that is just personal preference the cars or truck run the same with either it all depends on the tune loaded in it.

LOL. I have a used one in my trunk that I've never put in play - had planned on a canned tune, but read some bad stories about them and to bring it in, was just as much as purchasing a new one with a tune.

I am a dealer for SCT and Sniper , if you own 2 cars the advantage goes to Sniper because you can tune 2 cars right out of the box with their Special Forces kit

I have the SCT SF3 - this tuner comes with pre loaded tunes for our cars. While its not a custom tune, the program was tuned with a bolt on mustang. I love it! Im not sure if the xcal has trans shifting functions for auto's but I know the SF3 does. SCT is also better IMO because there are a lot more tuners out there more familiar with the program. They also fixed my tuner for free when it somehow got locked up?? The bad is its married to the PCM, and they charge $60 to unlock it. But if you only have 1 car that needs a tuner then its no big deal. Xcal is also a good tuner. What I did is took the preloaded tune from SCT, then tailored it using data log. Runs great! If I had to do it all over again, i'd go SCT Pro Racer Package. I have heard tons of good and only 1 bad from a guy on the corral. Pro Racer skips paying tuners and you can control everything! Not sure about sniper's software, but im sure I hear good things.
