My 1998 Mustang 3.8L makes a rattling noise whenever my clutch is not engaged. Do any of you know what this might be?
Thank you in advanced!

Your throwout bearing needs replaced

Also, it only makes the noise when my clutch is disengaged and my clutch is smooth when I use it. Could there be any other signs I could see or hear that tells me it is the throw out bearing? I ask because I got mine replaced about 30k miles ago and don't know how long they should last.

Replace your throw out bearing and the other bearing that goes into the crank (pressure bearing?)

The one in the crank is the pilot bearing. It generally doesn’t cause issues like that.

The throwout bearing isn’t under pressure until the clutch pedal is pushed in. That’s why it’s noisy when your foot is off the pedal. Mine did the same thing. The problem is most aftermarket replacements are horrible. Only use motorcraft.
