Update on Motor

Here's the latest.

The wear around the ring area of my cylinders was enough that we will have to bore it. So, we are doing custom gas ported pistons. I figured as long as we are waiting for the pistons, I might as well step up on the cam. So the setup will be:

Custom gas ported pistons (4.155") and a 4.100 crank for 444 cubic inches
Changing cam from .720 lift to about 800.
CR will fall from 15:1 to 14.5:1, but that should be better for nitrous
GZ Motorsports Vacuum Pump to provide about 23 hg of vacuum at about 30 cfm for better crankcase ventilation.

Now I need to come up with a 444 emblem . . lol

lol get 3 460 emblems haha is that motor a alcohol running machine?? if so for pinks that will hurt you

Yep. It's an alky car. But, when they did Pinks All Out here in Phoenix, half of the top 16 were alky cars.

I was actually thinking about getting 3 442 emblems and using three 4s on each side. :boink:

oh yea haha i guess 3 460's would only do one fender haha... :banana: the last all out i watched was a gas vs. alky and the alky guy got stomped because of the continious running of the engines

Did he run out of fuel? Alky stays a lot cooler, so it should be an advantage. My water temp has never been above 180 . . . and I've never even turned on the fan.

oh they made a comment about his car getting to hot from running to long and becoming slower and slower

Then something was wrong with his car - but it wasn't the alky that caused it. Alky cars run a lot cooler than gas cars.

I was at 10.19 before. With as well as the suspension is working with the new spool rear end (1.39 60 in Vegas), the added displacement, a taller cam, and the vacuum pump, I'm thinking 9.75-9.80 on motor and middle 8s on the 300 shot.

I actually went from a 4.30 to a 3.73 and my 60 foot improved from 1.4 to 1.39 . . . which is hard to explain. I think it might have something to do with the efficiency of the spool as opposed to the old locker.

Bottom line is that I couldn't stay with the 4.30 and spray the 300 shot because I would be running out of gear at the top end.

do you have a 9" or 8.8?
