Anyone have experience with using et streets on a stock 8.8, 28 spline rear end? The guys at work say I will blow the clutch packs up in mine with the drag radials. Keep in mind I don't 5k clutch drop, I would launch at 3k with slip out. I just don't want to have my car run again then blow the diffy with all the new engine stuff...

I dropped the cluch all season @ 5500 and didnt break my rear end with slicks. Drag Radials are slightly more violent so id be careful, worst case look in to some harneded 28 spline axles from moser.

I ran M/T ET Streets for a few passes on my stock rear end and then finally on the 3rd or 4th pass I bent both axles.

Just swap to 31 splines, it's well worth it

a friend of mine ran m/t et streets for about 6 months, on a boosted 306 with 4.10's out back. never bent an axle but i think his clutch packs are going out. not much spin on the tires at like 4k rpm's while he was doin his burnouts.

but damn did that thing launch like a bat outa hell.

Honsetly I wouldn't risk it. You just put all that money into it, you don't want it breaking now!!! Save a little more get your self a nice stout rear, then put them bitchess on there!!

so long as your not droping clutches at 5800 you will be fine... The first time i took my car to the track on slicks i twisted an axle in half on the third pass...

you prob started to lose power at 5800.... Its his et streets that will save him (f they are the bias soft wall tires) no et street radials, those are stiff wall drag radials... those will break shit

lol As I said, the hardest launch will be at 3k to play it safe. I don't have the money to replace my diffy/axles yet sadly. I'm not a side stepper or powershifter either, I'm honestly not that rough on my car...

psh, if your not doing 5K Dumps on the clutch and power shifting the snot out of it then your not drag racing :eek:ccasion14:

There is no guarantee your axles will take iit or not. To save money you can just get the hardened 28 spline axles as duff said then you dont have to change your differential so that can save you $250+

You the axles will blow before the diffy would? I have to drive this car everyday, I think powershifting a 2-3 then blowing it what make a good paperweight of a new tranny :p. I did a few passes last year on 8.5" slicks but the 1 was toast(worn past wear holes). I launched at 2.5k and bogged but left nicely with the 3k one. The car took it pretty darn well :). Also, I hear the ET street Bias ply(wrinkle wall) is "easier" on the rear end than the et street radial, any truth to this?
