Was told my car wont need tune .... REALLY

So I called a well known Mustang performance shop were I'm located in California and they told me to email them my set up and they would let me know if they can tune the car...

I got a response from the guy and he told me because the car is so mild that you don't need to tune it ..

He said all you have to do is degree the cam right and it will be fine ....


The car is not finished yet so I done know how the car runs yet . I wanted to set an appointment and once the car was done take it and tune it .

The Cam has a 115 lob sep so I'm praying it runs Ok. I also wanted him to tune the car for the Trickflow NOS plate but he said because its a wet kit all I have to do is run race fuel or take out 4 degrees of timing ...


Is the car going to need a tune or not?


Is there anyone here in California that can tune my car???

Trickflow camshaft? Generally a tune improves driveability on the 94/95 5.0 cars. I'd suggest looking into a can tune from Bama tunes as an option since this dude has no interest in actually doing it.

The cam is a schneider racing cam..

Intake Duration (.050?): 216
Exhaust Duration (.050?): 224

try without a tune and see how it acts. a computer tune is not always needed. sometimes just the basic tuning of plug gaps, timing, and things like that work best, many times a computer tune does find more and other times cars will not run worth anything without. how much extra do you spend by waiting to see if tune is needed.

i also think the mail order tune is not the best way to spend your money on tuning. you can find others that will actually tune YOUR car and not just the specs that you give them. sometimes for cheaper too. my tuner is local and cheaper than mail order.

The lsa and cam specs make me think the car should run fine. You can pull timing and fine tune your wet kit by reading your plugs and mesing with the fuel jets. Not sure of your entire setup but as you were told a tune isnt really needed unless your having driveability issues
