All the plugs are new ,but will check it out .a bad spark plug wire can cause a ticking noise as well as it arcs across the bad spot.
No distributorits possible to be bad out of the box. Only way to test that I know of is to disconnect the wires at the dist. Yes the car will have a miss but the tick will go away when you pull the corrosponding bad wire.
I just picked up a good running low mile 01 crown vic engine, npi of course. Im going to tear it down, clean it up, freshen it up while checking it over mapping it out, and throw in my little tricks. Target price will be roughly $2000 completedPrice, pics, details?
