Weird electrical thing (not really a problem)

I repalced the stock Mach 460 stereo with a new JVC unit. Got the correct wire harness from Crutchfield. Wired correctly; soldered wire connections; radio works flawlessley...except for when I am putting the windows up or the top up. When the windows or the top are all the way up and you still have your finger on the "up" button, the radio display dims as if the headlights were on. The sound or play functions are not distorted, but I find it strange that the display should dim with the electrical load.

Anyone have an idea why this happens??

The only wiring change in the car since new is the mod for the fogs to come on with the parking lights. And I replaced a bad headlight switch some years ago, and haven't seemed to have a problem with it since.

no matter up/down when you push the button I am pretty sure it still kicks the motor for top which will draw power, which could take it from another place like the deck.

@ Mustang Chris - It's a 95 GT

I get that it draws power, but the radio display dims exactly like it does when the headlights are on. I guess that when the radio gets a reduced power signal, it dims as if the headlights were on. But should putting up the top or the windows draw that much juice? Or is it maybe a weak alternator?

The window motors draw a lot of juice, not surprising that anything dims when they are engaged. Especially if the window is fully up and you press up button. That would produced a larger current spike than any other condition.
