Is there a big difference in sound between just welding in some slp1 resanators vs the catback system (paying out the ass for the catback system)

Your factory system is 2 1/4" and not mandrel bent. Yes, there will be a slight difference in sound between the two and honestly, I reccomend spending the dough and getting the catback complete.

Sometimes (not always cause it really depends) you can get a catback fabbed up by a muffler shop for pretty cheap and then have them use whatever mufflers you want.

Not being an asshole but honestly, how many muffler shops have you seen with a mandrel bender in house? 95% of muffler shops can't afford them as they cost 10x as much...thats a conservative estimate. It would take years for a shop to re-coup that kind of investment. When we do custom exhaust for people, if they want mandrel bent tubing, we have prebent elbows in stock but you better believe the price of the exhaust goes up rather substantially as opposed to us just using our regular pipe bender. A custom one off mandrel bent 2 1/2" cat back from us would run you as much if not more than an off the shelf exhaust made to fit the car. Other shops may be different...but remember there is a difference between a regular tubing bender and MANDREL.

Hence the: "..it really depends" :coolsmiley: I haven't seen but a couple shops with a mandrel bender. You're right, they're pricey. I'm getting mine down for a decent price (less than an off the shelf catback). Helps that I know the owner of the shop too. :)

The "flowtubes" ...the pipes where they bolt to the h pipe are still going to be 2 1/4"

no shit lol j/k but how much can a 1-2 ft piece of pipe restrict?

I mean it will restrict it MORE than a catback. Thats what you question was originally and we're telling you the truth. When all is said and done, its your car.

Yes it will be louder. If you still have cats its only going to be so loud though...

it has always been a saying that goes... your exhaust is only as big as your smallest crimp.
