I bit the bullet and bought an entire 5 speed swap for my 96. I've given up on the auto. Anyone done this swap?

Opinions? I think its a better way of driving, I hate my slush box

I did it in my gt with a complete kit from amp performance it wasn't bad at all my only bitch about it was swapping the pedals.

Im ready to finish my swap, (like in 2 days or so).

The pedals arent that bad. Did a swap on a fox and felt like killing someone. :BangHead: Took like 10 mins on the SN95.




Not to threadjack, but are trans crossmembers the same?

I did it with my 95 and I needed the 5 speed computer, im guessing its the same for 96+ but im not positive

You won't need the manual ecu, but you can have the auto ecu reflashed with a handheld Tuner for a manual swap.

It's a straight forward swap if Ur getting a whole swap it should come with ecu.but there easy to do if you got tools I did mine on my 95 in like 4 hours. Autos are so sluggish or mine was had to go. This will be Ur favorite mod. As stated above these pedal assemblys are easy the fox ones are pretty gay to do.

You can reflash your automatic ecu.

I've considered this swap. It was told to me the manuals go bad far sooner than autos(4r70w's). Although they are way more fun, if you DD like me you cant have down time. maybe I'll buy a beater and swap a manual in the stang.

any tips/tricks? how hard was putting in the pedal assembly? use of lift?
