So last Wednesday, I went to the track just to see what the car can do before I do the heads and im a little disappointed but I was on street tires, 18's and it was hard to launch. I wasn't prepared anyway because I forgot to up the timing to 14* timing because I went to the track straight from college, so I was on 87 octane and 10* which means I still have a little power in the motor to get into the lower numbers.

here's some pictures of me lined up in the gear jammers lane;

So, you look the part for sure, but yeah those 18s are doing you no favors with the added weight. What was the time? Did I say looks great!

Not bad considering 18s and street tires(?). I ran a 14.7 on 17s and streets spinning all the way down the track hahaha

Not bad man. Some lighter wheels would definitely help for sure. The heads are gonna make a nice difference

Good for you man. At least you went to the track - and like you said, now you know. Everyone wants to go to the track with their car and have something that screams down it like a raped ape, throwing down mid 11's, but we aren't all there. At least you know where you sit now, rather than a lot of other people that talk up their cars but are afraid to take it out because secretly, deep inside, they know...15's. Looking at you, vast majority of "modded" Civic drivers...

You are doing it proper, getting a baseline. (And for what it's worth, I'm pretty sure my car would be the high 14's as well :tongue: )

I don't know about you other guys. But I basically race myself. If I can improve my best time I'm happy. My first race event I improve my time by over a second...

Then again this is coming from a v6...
Haven't been able to try with the blower yet :(

At least you're on the track! Still beating the 10 second car that never shows up.

The goal for my car is to run 12.5 and then get into the road racing right after because their is not purpose of going faster than 11.5 without going all out with a cage or whole list of safety equipment.
but at the moment running the car is just helping me get more used to taking off or launching better. I'll bump the timing and probably hit a 14.5, then if I purchase the e/t streets in my area I'll most like be in the 13.9-14.0 area. With heads should be in the 12.9-13.2.

This. As long as you personally improve, that's what matters.

Ah. Well. This is a different animal (and where my interests are). Honestly, IMO, if you really want to head towards road racing, I'd stop trying to make the car faster right now and focus on suspension and brakes. You will need those FAR before you need a faster car. Once you get used to driving the car at it's current power, then you start adding go-faster bits. My 95 has the stock motor but done-over suspension and brakes, and it's an absolute blast road racing. It will get more power, but in the beginning I didn't miss it - too busy getting the car to turn.

Yeah but I'm not gonna be anymore than 300 rwhp and I plan on running nitrous to get to my fastest time. The suspension actually consist of beilsteins and lowering springs, I was thinking of getting an irs and front coilovers for it right after drag and get into the same tracks road racing scene. The front has 13 in brakes and the rear would be upgraded to 13in also.
Ill have to check the rule book but It would be a while before I get to that.

Right on nice to see you made it out there . You can get it to a 14.5 by just learning how to drive your car better it shows in the trap speed and 60' that you need some practice ... Keep it up you'll be there in no time

I think I'll get everything out the car when I put drag radials and bump the timing. Street tires dont deserve to be on the track lol. I was slipping the clutch at 23-2500 rpm and spun a little and power shifted 2nd but 3rd is always tricky.

next time will be drag radials and heads.
