Well we are still working on replacing the clutch in the mustang..the pilot bearing was completely seized and wouldnt come out, we tried everything so we ended up having to bust it up and pull it out..Then come to find out the new pilot bearing doesnt fit..Then to top it off the buddy who's helping me had to run back to where he lives (45 mins away) and we went back, and somehow I got axel grease on the seat of his truck. Did I mention its an 02 lightning? :wall: :wall: I'm such a fucking idiot. I dont know how it got on the back of my pants and I didnt even know it was on there..I feel so stupid!
Hopefully we'll get it all done tomorrow...

Maybe some pre-wash stain remover followed by Varsol or some other mineral based dilutant. Good luck with both projects.

Busting up the pilot bearing to get it out! Isn't that the way they are supposed to come out. lol. Been there done that they make a tool that goes in there and spreads out, but I always just seem to bust mine out. Sucks about the bad day but it happens when working on cars. Good luck on the lightning seat.

I always use a slide hammer to get the pilot bearings out of mine. Another good trick is to use a grease gun to fill up the hollow area behind it with grease and hydraulic it out. Or pack it full of soap shavings, stick a socket extension in there and hammer on the extension to make it pop out itself. Or you can buy a spreader, or you can just take a dremel to it and cut it out.
