Grinding usually means no more Clutch pad. Sort of like brake pads, once it happens they need to be replaced ASAP

when you hit the throttle or hit a certain RPM and the RPM's shoot up but your MPH stays the same as if you pushed in the clutch and hit the throttle. Just like mine now does in 5th gear :violent1:

That's what it is the rpms rev high, but the ca doesn't pull like it use to. What's a good price to pay for a heavy duty clutch installed?

not to sure on that its one thing Ive always done on my own w/ the help of a friend. Did it on my 95 GT and a friends 03 Cobra. If you or a friend has some basic mechanical skills its not that bad as long as you have a day or so to do it depending on the speed you work at. Either way you also have to have your flywheel resurfaced. A machine shop can do that for you, some NAPA Auto Parts stores have the machine shops in them.

This is exactly how I figured it was time to change my clutch. I pegged the throttle and the rpm's jumped at least 1,000-1,500 without any speed increase or acceleration whatsoever.

When yours does what mine does and breaks at the low rpms in 3rd gear at the track, then makes this awful squealing noise and doesnt go anywhere when you have it in gear and push on the gas..lol.

I noticed mine was slipping pretty bad on my previous pass..so I wanted to make one more but it just blew. So pissed..

Will the smell of a burning clutch come from the front or behind the car near the rear wheels?

my clutch went out a while back. the first sign was the burning smell it is very distinct and you would smell it as soon as you open the door. second sign is the slipping. then when you can't move at all you know it is over.

I've had a few throw out bearings commit suicide, but never a clutch disc go bad. I guess I need to drive my car harder :angel4:.

The best though is when your TO bearing decides to die in rush hour traffic. Yep I was "THAT GUY" with the hazards on, just sitting there, in everybody's way. I finally figured out that if I could time the lights just right, I could start the car in first and wind it out to get off the road...
