One of my friends has a 97 GT stock with only a Flowmaster catback exhaust.
His clutch needs to be replaced because it is showing signs of wear and the
throwout bearing is making noise too.
He said that his car will remain stock with no poweradders in the future as it is
his daily driver. He's looking for a aftermarket clutch that has smooth engagement
and good driveability and longevity.
I had a Centerforce DF clutch on my old mustang and loved it but,
would like to hear your opnions guys!

Stock, why mess it up and give it a heavy pedal? A Centerforce is way overkill for him.

I would go with the ford racing hd kit or the king cobra kit. They both have a stock clutch disk but have a higher clamping force. The king cobra is actually cheaper now than the hd kit and has more clamping force. They are great choices for bolt on applications. I've had both and think they're both great for the price. around 227 after tax.

what does the sound of the throw out bearing going out sound like. When i push on my clutch it makes a squeaky noise but the clutch is centerforce df that was put in over the summer... it shouldnt be going.

Noisy TOB is a squeak to almost a metal-on-metal sound, mine gets a little quieter when the car is warm but inside the car it's all I hear when it's cold.

Following this thread as I am in the OP's position, pretty much same goal as far as a reliable DD and I'm thinking King Cobra myself.

Would a faulty TOB create vibration through the shifter? (Just asking)

It sounds like a squeeky wheel. I've never had any luck with anything but a Ford TOB.

It wouldn't vibrate though the shifter though, that would be your mainshaft internally, or Ujoint/driveshaft out of whack. Possibly in the rear end also.

It sounds like a metal to metal vibrating/rattling sound if the clutch petal
is pressed in or not.His 97 GT has 102K miles on the clock and runs well for the mileage.
He doesn't want a heavy petal though.Sounds like the King Cobra clutch or a
stock replacement clutch is the way to go for him.
How do you guys with the King Cobra clutch like it?
Today he bought a brand new stock OEM flywheel because he didn't want to take
a chance resurfacing the old one.
Tomarrow he's ordering his new clutch.

I'd replace the pilot bearing while youre down there..I just replaced my throwout bearing, which makes a noise at idle, sounds like a grinding, and for mine it went away with the clutch engaged. Didnt really go away but got quieter..eventually it finally went out when I went to shift, and its a high pitched squeeling noise. If you see smoke, or smell something, chances are you burnt out your clutch too, like I did. :D. But I'd change the TOB, pilot bearing and all. That way you dont have to do it again anytime soon.

I have a king cobra and I really like it . Really smooth, grabs hard and doesn't have much pedal effort. I would get a firewall adjusterr and a aluminum quadrant though. Its easy to install and makes a big difference. The plastic factory quadrants usually go bad anyway.

Thanks for your insight he decided to order the King Cobra clutch.
He has a MM firewall adjuster and aluminum quadrant too.
The transmission shop he's taking his car to in his area stocks the
pilot bearing and pilot bearing retainer. He also has a Ford TOB on the
way too so, he's set!
