Get Money said:
4th is probably 115ish IIRC, but I haven't taken it that high in awhile.. and at 80 i know it's under 3k, probably 2.6k... I don't know, I don't really concern myself with it anymore..
If anyone else knows exact, feel free to correct me..

If you like doing all that highway driving, then you should probably stick with them or go 4.10's..

But for me personally, I don't like them any longer.. But I don't feel like spending the $500 for installing a new gear..

thanx for the info. :santa_afro:

I mean, don't get me wrong, they sure are nice upgrade and I came from 3.27's... SOO, you coming from 2.73's if i remember, they will feel like a whole world of a difference. :santa_afro:

Technically... Mustang's are "Pony" car's, ie more balanced with an emphasis on handling and speed. But people coming out of two fuel crisis's faced with strict regulations governing fuel mileage without reliable overdrive transmissions put 2.73's in there. Then they continued after technology caught up.

410s def man....since you have an AODE...as long as you drive in overdrive on the highway and long drives.. the car wont have that drastic of a gas mileage drop

I dont mean to take over the tread but what about 3:90's? From what I read, its an in between 3:73's and 4:10's.

damn, i guess im the only one who would ever suggest 3.55's, huh?

honestly, if i had to do it all over again, i would go with the 3.55's again. for me its a perfect balance. kinda sucks that im turning 3k @ 90mph, i guess i could always be driving slower.....but where's the fun in that? im more of a top end kinda guy anyway

Yea...I agree...now that I think about it....I liked being able to go 100 at the top of second gear. I liked being able to get on it and be in second gear untill about 100.

I guess it would be differant if I had a 5 speed though

Gears are cool, but in the end, I still feel like 500 dollars could have been better spent on a pi swap.

hey man, i considered getting 4.10's for a while. i have 3.73s. my car is a five speed. im not sure what is better for an automatic but i know the 3.73's in my gt work great. my friends 97 cobra has trouble keeping up with me even tho it has way more horsepower. my rpms just climb a lot quicker than his. good luck with whatever you choose tho!

btw, how many miles are on your car? be careful changing gears on a high mileage car. i hear that can cause problems. good luck!

most of the people around here have the 5 speed and they all have like 3.73's and most of experiance is in performance 5.0 stuff in fox bodies so i'm familar with the 3.73 gear... But everyone said that the npi would run outta steam with the 4.10's prematurely. But hell i've rode with a couple of those guys and it feels good launching but thats about it... it doesn't pull for shit with the 3.73 in my mind. So i hope the torque converter will solve that and 4.10's
