I know there are tons of there but I want one now. My last run at the track last year was a 15.2 w/2.2 60ft. I want to know what you guys think will be a realistic expectation for the future. Before next year I will have done or do the following. Steeda Drag Springs all around, Lakewood 90/10, New bushings in the rear, remove front sway-bar, remove a/c system, move battery to trunk, poly seats replacing the factory leather, rear seat delete, shift kit, new tires they are 28" BFG street radial-replaced the 26"'s that were old and at the wear bars(same brand), and 4.10 gears with a rebuild tlok(notice tlock was not slipping but on one side the clutches had lost all matterial and welded themselfs together. There is also a chance I will ditch the power steering for a manual rack. Thanks for the help guys

What was your trap speed? I'd try a bunch more practice before all the extra mods and money. You could definitely make a big improvement over what you're running now with just some practice.

You have a really nice car, and it would be a shame to eliminate all the creature comforts to go faster.

My '95 GT ran 13.97 @ 97 in my '95 GT with just gears, intake, exhaust, shifter, and drag radials. The rest of the car is stock.

To go faster, but keep some of the creature comforts and value of the car, here's what I'd recommend:
  • Remove or unhook an endlink on the front swaybar
  • Buy some drag radials, or a spare set of wheels with slicks
  • Definitely get gears and rebuild the trac-lok, maybe install the carbon fiber clutches
  • Shift kit is a good mod and worth the money

I'd start there, then move toward:
  • New bushings in the uppers, maybe some nice LCAs
  • Skinnies on the front

What I wouldn't do is pull the A/C, Power Steering, and other creature comforts. It might be fun for a while, but it is likely you'll regret it later.

Hope that helps.

Paul.

O i forgot to mention that the car is just a toy, I have another daily driver. I already have control arms, and I havent used a/c in 2+ years its a vert you dont need it. the only thing i dont have that you listed is the drag radials. I have the lakewoods, springs, bushings, and FRPP uppers in my garage waiting to go on. And the gears are already in. Thanks for the input paul im going to work on getting some drag radials after I find out how well these normal street tires work.LOL. I wont be hitting the track till next year anyway. What do you think is realistic for what I plan on doing?

Oh sure it's definitely realistic.

You should be able to get the short times into the 2.0-2.1 pretty easily, even without much power.

Sticky tires make a huge different. I'd get those on and get a bunch of practice.

Although I hear what you're saying about it just being a toy, I suppose I'm just against "whoring out" streetcars on principle. However, that's just me being old and grumpy. :) I think all cars that don't run 9s should have A/C and power steering. :eek:ccasion14:

With the weight reduction, sticky tires, and suspension mods you should be good for mid-high 14's. The gears should get you into the low-mid 14's

+1 on the shift kit, it is well worth it.

After I put on my suspension I noticed a huge difference i leaving the line. Instead of breaking the tires lose for a sec the whole care would start go get sideways and I'd need to get off it. And thats just with mods listed below. I dont have a time cause I've never taken it to a track though.
