you don't need adj cam gears. You grind the keyway out of the stock gears and then adjust them and tighten the bolt.
You'll need a solid lifter also.

yep bob go that on the head, also a degree wheel, dial indicator (good one like starrett) crank sockets are helpful, and paper to do some math

and If you "have" to have adjustable cam sprockets, they do make them but the only good ones that I have seen are 600 bucks or more which for I don't think it is worth it if you are just an average joe, especially when time and time again grinding the keyway has worked perfectly. I have heard on other forums to avoid the fidenza/comp cam sprockets.

ive heard to avoid the comps but not much about the fidanza. imo... keep the stock sprocket and grind the keyway. thats how i intend to do it.

Comps work fine. 1500 + miles with them plus track time. you need to use loctite green on the screws after it is degreed in.

These are the tools I used to degree my cams;

1. degree wheel,
2. pointer-made out of wire hanger,
3. comp cam piston stop, which I had to grind the edge off cause it wouldn't fit in the spark plug hole,
4. a dial indicator, with the tip wrapped in duct tape and a pen cap pushed on it to give more length and clearance,
5. magnetic base holder to hold the dial indicator in place,
6. solid lash adjuster,
7. OHC removal tool,
8. 2 torque wrenches-both ft-lbs and in-lbs, in-lbs for the cam adjusters,
9. 24mm open end wrench to hold cam in place and to move it slowly,
10. 1/2" 18mm socket and ratchet to turn motor,
11. spark plug socket
12. Allen type sockets to tighten the cam adjuster screws.
13. 3/8" ratchet
14. 1/4" rachet
15. 13mm socket to attach pointer to water pump bolt.

I think thats it.

Good luck!
