Well for one thing the 1996 GTs and Cobra had notorious overheating issue due to a smaller radiator and problems with the A/C condenser blocking airflow I'm currently having problems my fan works but does not turn on when the engine becomes hot, it turns on when I have the AC compressor on and it will turn on very late guessing its a thermostat or engine coolant sensor... idk anyway stay away from the 96 GT it was the first year for the 2v 4.6

Really? Wow
I feel lucky now

Looking at my 96 and 98 side by side.... it doesn't look like condenser location changed, compressors are the same (well the 96 will work on the 98 for sure). My auto car does seem to run a little warmer but nothing that ever concerned me.

Never heard of or had that issue and I'm from Arizona.....

There was a "silent recall" for the 96's. If you had an issue they upgraded you to the 97+ revised radiator/fan. If you didn't have a problem they didn't say anything.
