im going for the same thing as my top end is not doing so good. i got a set of p's and an explorer intake im going to port and such. curious what cam i should run in the future tho.
The set up I am going with is similar... gt40 heads, tfs 1 cam, 94/95 cobra intake with a ported lower, (and if I can afford it port the heads) along with your other basic bolt ons should get it close to 300 on a budget. At least from the research I have done. Win knows alot about this set up, maybe he can throw in his .02
Im very pleased on how my motor runs with junkyard GT40s. I milled em .030, and put seals in em. The explorer intake I ported out using epoxy. 70MM Fox TB, and 76MM maf with 24lb injectors. 1.6 Roller rockers on a factory cam.
Not saying that its a rocketship, but it will tear the ass out of a stock 94-95 GT with nothing more than some almost bolt on parts.
Alot of guys are running alot of different set ups and the 40's are holding their own, especially when ported and built. They are a good budget head IMO that has the potential to be built on. I would love some TFs or AFRs but they arent in my cards right now... check it out.
The videos of the fox racing is pretty cool, now our cars might not run as fast since we are a bit heavier but should be pretty close, with slicks ofc.
I have yet to install and tune a tfs top end kit on any car making less 310rwhp. Something is clearly wrong of making under 290rwhp fuel compression, numerous things.
Definitely a couple quick cars there. I noticed they're fox bodies and both running a drag suspension setup and a pretty low gear and even slicks on the one. 293whp from the one is nice though, I just don't think anyone should expect those kind of times with a gt40 build in an average sn95.

I am not saying the gt40's are the best thing out there, I am just saying they have enough potential that they can be a solid start to making good power and running good times...
