I'm going to be doing my head and intake swap here soon (can't get a cam until next year) and I'm trying to figure out how to know what size of pushrods to get. I've looked at the adjustable pushrod gauge, but how do those work? It is confusing me and I'd like to know before i start the swap.

also, what size spacer is needed for an explorer intake for these valve covers?

and with installing a spacer, will it raise my power band? i thought i read that somewhere...

Those look like the same ones I have, I needed a 1 in spacer. Hopefully you won't need a spacer but if you do, I got mine from summit, verify the runners are the same and mock it up before you order it to get how tall you will need. When you mock it up, make sure you have the throttle body connected to the upper intake because that was where my problem was with clearance. I actually had to cut another half inch off my throttle body where it goes over the valve covers and that was with the 1" spacer. I don't know about the hood, but I do know you might have to lose the strut bar or get it modified, I still haven't got my strut bar to work yet. And for the hardened push rods call keith craft racing and they will hook you up with the correct length. 870 246 7460 Good luck Man.

figure out how much space you have with the ones you have, then use that measurement to figure out what you need, there should be a plate underneath the breather hole that you can remove to figure it out. add a little to be safe, including where that plate is.

A pushrod that fits one engine may not necessarily work in another.

The deck height of the block, the camshaft base circle, the lifter height, the valve stem size, the thickness of the head gasket, the thickness of the guide plate, the height of the valve job relative to the deck of the cylinder head..there can be many things that affect the pushrod length.

Stock pushrod is what a lot of people think is correct - 6.250

A lot of times the 6.250 will work but they are not the right pushrod. I was going to use a Trick Flow 6.250 hardened pushrod. Then my tuner said to have the pushrod measured...we measured it and what I needed was 6.258 pushrods..

So I ordered them from Crane.. :thumb:

Stock rockers are a pedestal style mount, not a stud mount. There is not a huge difference between 1.6 and 1.7 rockers as far as power is concerned.
