ive got a 96 GT with really really bad 60ft times, last time i was running 2.5 to 2.3 60fts i have but have not installed yet a set of lowering springs which probally wont help, pluse i have a set of boxed lower control arms, what would you do for upper control arms, recomendations ect??? also with adjustbles how do you set the pinion angle for normal driving and to stip street, would you also go with doulbe adjust or single adjust??? i was also planning on next trip to the track to unhook the front sway bar, ive heard that does help alittle

Re: What to do for DRAG SETUP!!!!!

well my 96 gt twin I see your 2.5 and will raise you my 1.6 :)

Best bet, buy some 4cyl fox springs ( i have some for sale) I have HPM Mega Bite JR's which are double adjsutable lowers and relocated. For upper control arms, your stocks will be fine for the time being. Some nicely adjustable shocke ie Tokic's or Strange will be perfect, and keep your oe springs and depending on your rear control arm choice (hpms will lower the rear nicely and give it a good stance) youll get your drop.

i simply want to add that Maximum Motorsports suggests using OEM upper control arms and OEM Upper control arm bushings.

I have Metco Uppers which are double adjustable and have solid bushings. I changed the pinion angle because of the lower control arm mounts. (threw it negetive)

Re: What to do for DRAG SETUP!!!!!

your bad 60' times are a product of needing more practice at the track and you never said what you ran for tires? Im assuming street tires and you will never see a 60' time worth a damn with those things. How serious are you about going to the track? What times are you looking to get?

If you want to put the effort and money into it get a set of lower control arms, slicks or a good drag radial, upgrade your axles to 31 spine, adjustable shocks/struts with springs that are better for drag racing or drag springs.

but most of all you need to practice. I expect my 60' times to drop to sub 1.65's once I get in my strange 10 way shocks and struts and get the coil over springs put in.

I know i just stuck way to much in to the engine last year and trying to rebound somewhat but still trying to progress i know i need to work on my 60ft times and what not by my self, now with upgrading the axles at what point do you need to justify 31 spline over upgraded 28 spline???

I still run stock 28 spline axles, and the moser axles are much better and have claimed 40% stronger over stock. It depends on how you launch, tire pressure, sidewall type, tire type and other things. You can swap to 31's but if it aint broken dont fix it !

The best uppers you can buy are going to be team z and baseline. But they are far from cheap.

There really is no cut off point where you have to. As duff said you can run the hardened 28's and be fine and IMO is fine in lot of cases. I just went with 31 for a piece of mind factor.
