Well, i'm sorry but i would have to disagree. Personaly if i was to do something i would do it right the first time... I think the npi heads with the pi stuff is just problems waiting to happen. I think that its a good swap with just the stock pi cams/heads/and the intake, but if you wanted more then yea if you port then put in good cams, stock ones won't take advantage of the porting and if you do it put a little more money and put some stage 1 cams in there:p it will be a blast

Factory PI cams have nearly the same specs as performance NPI cams.

Steen racing will work your NPI heads. In order to run VT stage II cams you'll also need springs, and on NPI heads, you'll either need machine work, or offset retainer's.

I would say just do the pi swap dude, cheaper and easier than the ported npi's and all that other junk..

Thats the exact reason why I did PI cams. There was a post someone in here that actually had the specs of PI cams compared to the stage 1's they were almost identical, the PI's even looked a little better on paper. I actually just did the swap last Saturday. It took the entire day. I had all of the parts before hand and would not have been able to complete it myself. My brother was a big help. I say Do PI Cams and intake. If you have the cash do PI heads. IMO

no pi heads here either...stock pi cams and intake only on my '96 npi...the head swap asspain isn't worth the 10 rwhp or so they are good for imo. no disrespect to guys who have done it. but, for me it wasn't a good choice. w/ a blower, compression ratio becomes an issue w/ a pi head swap. no good gas in my area makes it a no-brainer. however, the npi heads, i know are a major bottle neck when it comes to big power, so what the hell am i trying to say...???? :dunno: really, i've learned that the high lift cams which come into play w/ pi heads are where the big power is for 2v engines...so i'm foul...but then again, my car is a daily driver that i don't drag, i'm just looking to have some fun as this is my hobby. good times!

Yea, see i like the idea of the blower on the 10.5:1 cr. But the gas here is a 93 oct. Anyway, I guess you really don't get that much from the pi heads but i'm just really iffy about the pi to npi port missmatch, i got the pi intake on now and it's cool but i just don't think that i would like to leave it that way, Furthur more to swap the cams out these things is just a couple steps away from a head swap :)

Keep in mind Cometic does make thicker head gaskets that will reduce the compression ratio if you wish to swap to PI heads and use a supercharger down the road.
