whats needed for a gear install?

ok well im about to get some 3.73's and i am well aware i need an install kit as well as oil, but when i called a gear shop for a quote, he said i needed fricyion modifier, as well as clutches, are these really necessary? oh and how will i know if i have a trac lock or true track rear end?

Yes you need friction modifier, bad things will happen if you dont. If you buy a kit like above it should come w/ everything you need. If you dont buy a kit then make sure you also get a crush sleve, usually they come w/ gears when you buy them new.
