What's supposed to be in the trunk...

What is that thing in the trunk that holds down the spare tire? You got the handle that you twist, which screws onto that long-ish bolt thing that sticks through the hole in the middle of the rim on the spare tire. But what does that handle twist down onto? My car is missing whatever that piece is, and I'd like to see a pic of one if I could. I know I could really just use anything with a hole in it, but I'm trying to restore the car (as much as I can) back to stock. Minus any actual performance upgrades of course. But when it comes to everything else, I'd like it to be stock. Maybe they sell new ones somewhere? I haven't had much luck looking for it in the junkyards.

I think its the jack or some such crazy mess that I had the hardest time getting back in there straight. I'll take a pic tomorrow if no one else has.

are you talking about the jbolt? that bolt goes through the jack and is secured by the 'wing' nut. all of which are in the spare tire.

Ok not the bolt itself. The bolt sticks up through the spare tire, and has a large plastic "wing nut" thing that you tighten onto the bolt. But what is that wing nut thing supposted to make contact with, once you tighten it down as much as you need to?

it comes in contact with your jack so it stays in place. you tighten the wing nut to make sure the jack doesnt rattle in the trunk.
