midpipes from a 99-04 car will not fit 96-98 cars, but 96-98 willl fit on 99-04. Our tranny crossmembers are bigger and lower so the midpipes from new edge cars won't fit because they will not clear the trans crossmember. The way they are bent around that are is different.

The o2 sensors closest to the engine are also not located in the same places. One of the combinations works fine, while the other requires o2 extensions or some splicing of the harness to make it longer for them to reach.

Is this with putting a 96-98 on a 99-04? If so i didnt have any problem with my 02 sensors not reaching.. just want to clarify this

I want to say that we ran into the problem when installing a mac prochamber on a 99gt. I believe it came off of a 97 cobra, I can't remember its been a couple years ago. It fit just fine, other than needing the extensions.

the rear o2 sensors don't work on a 96-97 if the mid pipe is for an 98+, I tried a midpipe from a 98 cobra on my car and the angle of the rear o2's put them right into the trans crossmember so I had to plug the holes and delete the rear o2's in my tune.

What brand of midpipe was this? When I did longtubes I bought a x pipe from VRS and the rear o2's had this problem. I told them about it and they sent me one with the bungs at the correct angle. They said the bungs for some reason were put in wrong.

let me get this straight or try to.... Dont try the 99-04 just get the one for a 96-98 and shut up lol. Saw one on craigslist for 100, it was the mac pro chamber for the 99-04, i was just hoping it would work, then decided to buy it, if I could get it for 70-80 bucks and sell it for more if it wouldnt work, but the guy already sold it.

currently running a 99-04 bbk xpipe on mine right now no problems other than the o2's didnt reach. fix for the problem since they were already 12 years old when i got the car was i bought some new ntk o2 sensors and they are plenty long enough. other than that it is a little tighter up against the car which works out great since im lowered hope this helps you.

I think it was a BBK, here's a pic of it -

you can see where the rear o2 plugs are, if o2's were threaded there they would hit the trans mount
