Ok so I bought my 19x8.5 & 19x9.5 RUFF Wheels . Looking at tire sizes and talking to a few folks it seems i am getting mixxed info..

I was told to run 275/35/19 but I had 275/40/17s and they just werent enough for me.... The tire guy says the 19" tires are wider then 18' tires. I not so sure about that. then he says the widest tire I can run on the 9.5's is 285/30/19 and that 295/30 would be too much and balloon bad. then the 305's would be dangerous if they even fit...

So really, why is there so much hassle. My 18x10 had 295/30 and would have easily taken a 305 without problems... So why cant I atleast run a 295/30?

I would really like the 305's but oh well. As long as 295's would work..

So anyone with 19" tires, or anyone who know about tire sizes that can shed some light on the subject?

There are some people that run outrageous tire sizes, ive seen a 315 on an 8.5" wheel. Not saying that's safe, but Ive seen it, and it looks terrible. It really all depends on your preference. Most guys like a flush look, some people like a little tire bulge. Back when I had a set of 8.5 rear wheels, I put 275's on them, which bulged, but not to any degree that was unsafe by any matter.

9.5 is a rather odd wheel width when it comes to mustangs, but that's not to say you will have any problem with mounting or finding tires for them. Most guys run a 9" wheel, or a 10/10.5 in the rear. On a 9" wheel, a 255 tire will give you a flush fit without stretching the tire. Anything above a 275 on a 9" will start to bulge a little bit, so I would guess a 285 or 295 would be pushing the limit on a 9.5 if you don't want an extreme ballooning look.

i figured 295 might be pushing it.. i dont mind a lil balloon but I dont want alot..

My 18x10 with 295/30 were flush, so i was thinkin that a 305 would work on the 9.5 rim but afraid its going to look retarded. I really want 305's.

I just hate to use 285's, unless it will be a lil wider then the rim. Dont want it stretched or flush

and am not having much luck finding pics with wide tires on 19x9.5

I would say you could run a 295 wide tire on those but I am no tire guru here. IMHO I wouldnt run anything larger than that.

coming from someone who had 315's previously, I like my 285's. I dont think a 305 will be too big on a 9.5, it just won't mount flush to the wheel.

Yea I had 305's before the 295's I have now, both on a 10 inch wheel. The 305's didnt necessarily bulge but came off the lip of the rim just enough to protect the rims from being curbed. The 295's are just behind the lip, barley noticeable to the naked eye, you have to be sniffing the tire to tell. I enjoy my 295's just wish I was smarter and ordered the correct sidewall profile.

I dont think i will ever try anything over 305, I bet those 315's were massive.. I had my 18x9 Cobra R wheels with 275/40 and it was flush to the rim..

I may just use the 295's.. i wish I could find a pic of the 305's on a 9.5 wheel. a little tire bulge is Ok with me so it helps protect the wheel.

Let me ask this.

On the 8.5 front, would 245/35 look stretched or should I just use 255/35's to get them close to flush?

@ JDwhite, what profile did you run? I used 295/30 and 255/35 with my 18's

I liked the 315's, and although they fit, they did look to be a little excessive for the size of the car. A 285/295 seems to be the perfect fit for our cars. Not too small, not too big. But at one point as I was VERY close to buying 335's.

335s look sick.

Is CruizinKev running 19x9.5? He's the only person I know running 19"s at all, maybe he can help you a bit.

Well i came across a guy with two Toyo Proxe S4 XL 295/30 ZR19, for $200. 95% + tread left on them..

He said they were on his cruise wheels and only put 400 miles on em.

I have read that they are close to Nittos but wear pretty fast..

Would these be worth snatching up?

Seem like a good deal.

I run a 18X9.5 rear and have had 285 and 295 on them and both fit great. If I can find a 305 when I am looking next time I may go for it.

Also remember not all tire brands are the same size. Nittos tend to run narrow compared to others so the 295 Nitto's I had were about the same size as my current 285 Eagle F1 GSD3's.

my 295s fill up my 10" rim so I wouldn't go more than that on a 9.5. If you wanted a wider tire why didn't you buy a wider wheel?

Putting my 9.5 wheel up to the 295/30/18 Pirellis on 18x10 bullitts. It looks like I could pull off a 305 easily?

i am going later to check out those 295/30/19 Toyo's with a tread depth gauge . If they are 0ver 8/32 then I will probably snag them.
