Funny little story that happened to me that I thought I'd share. 4th of July weekend my bro in-law went camping in his 1995 Hyundai accent and he calls me up saying that his car is making a weird sound just as he is about to arrive home. I tell him to pull over to the nearest gas station and I'll go take a look at it, instead he said "no, I think I'll make it home" about a mile away. He somehow makes it to my in laws, I go and check it out, pop open the hood and find 2 crumpled belts tangled up between the pulleys. At this point I said you know what it's kind of late we'll work on it tomorrow, I had been drinking lots of beer and eaten lots of burgers so it wasn't good wrenching time. I go to check it out the next day, and theres a big puddle of coolant under the car. I pull the belts apart and on a corner I find a water pump pulley cut clean off. So I think to myself, replace a water pump and maybe some belts, how hard can it be? That being said, I was never big on the brand but now I HATE it. One of the worst days of wrenching ever, had to jack up the car, remove wheel and splash guard, unbolt timing belt cover and unbolt crankshaft pulley (which was a bitch). Had to raise the engine, remove the engine mount, remove A/C stuff, push alternator out of the way, remove engine mount brackets, remove drive belt and pulleys, and finally remove water pump. Sounds like a lot of work, now picture doing that with about 2-3 inches of working space tops. So I replace the pump, and after a few more swear words and outbursts I get it all patched up. I leave it a couple of hours for the RTV to cure and to get some relax time. I go back, fill up all the fluids, and turn it on. It had the worst knock in the world, tried revving the engine a little and it wouldn't move past 2000 rpm. So my guess is somewhere between the call and the rest of the way home he blew it up. I don't know about the rest of the hyundais out there but this one is the biggest POS I've ever worked on. With that short story out of the way, what's the worse car you've worked on?

I tried changing a belt a Miata once with your basic tools you'd have laying around.Yea, f that, drove it without powersteering.

That wasn't bad, I was just lazy and didn't want to dig into it over a belt that honestly wasn't needed.

The miata is cake compared to the Hyundai, my brother Auto-Xs one so I'm used to working on it.

I work as a lube tech.. the worst are suzuki grand vitara's.. the oil filter is under the exhaust manifold, but you have to get it from the top, and once the filter is off, it took me 10 minutes to get it out.. fuck suzukis.

changed the Alternator on a 01 Ford Focus.

ford decided to put them to the left of the crank, which on a Focus puts it against the firewall.

had to undo a motor mount and pivet the engine with a crowbar on the other mount to gain clearance to remove it.

Yea, I know they're not too bad, I'm just lazy. haha

I haven't had to do a whole lot serious work on anything really. Messed with my 67 Mustang anda little with the 95 and the SRT4, but none of them have been horrible.

Sunfires and Cavalier balljoints and starters on the sunfires. Hell, Anything GM I'll throw in there, I have a huge hate for working on GM products.

Probe GT was probably the worst car I've had to work on, it seems like any car with the engine sideways like that is just always going to be harder than something like our Mustang. I take how easy my Mustang is to work on for granted sometimes.

Went to change the belt on my wife's old 98 nissan altima, popped the hood, couldn't even hardly see the belt, shut the hood, grabbed my toolbox and went back in the house.

Front wheel drive=sideways motor

Fail. Lol No way in hell.

Recently helped my brother change the oil on his 1997 Dodge Dakota. The oil filter is located against the frame behind the front passengers side wheel. You have to take the wheel off and it is still a PITA to get the filter out...oh, and you get oil all over the place. The person that decided to put the oil filter there needs to be shot.

Knock on wood, I haven't had to do any work on my wife's 04 Ford Freestar...there is zero room to work on that engine.

Lincoln Mark VIII.

Stupid 4.6L DOHC behemoth motors are ridiculous. If I had a hinge in the middle of my forearm, it sure would've made changing the oil a lot easier.

Paul.
