Ok , so my poor stang is in need of a major make over! Its got 250k+ on it and is bone stock!!! ( the way it drives lately , i think its even got the stop plugs lol ) I also have a 95 bronco that over the hill aswell 250k on it and still got more than enough power to pull any Chevy through a mud hole!!!
any how lol the bronco is gettin a 460 so that leave me its stoke 351 to play with. In my long list of toys is an 82 glx ex 255 stang ( the plan was to make this my drag car as it was pretty hairy in its day ) but thinking i want to go ahead and sell it as im runnign out of room :crybaby2:... So i want to make the 95 stang a crazy d/d. Im thinking a 351 punched 30 or 40 over nice set of afr heads probly a lightning intake all ported to match with a STS turbo ( would like to run a twin turbo set up ). The cam is still in the air , like i said i want this as me D/D. Im lookin at the 351 bc of the block being stronger and ive got it sitting here ( and the kool factor , how many ppl have 351's in a sn95 :headbang: ) I figured durring the week id turn the boost down to keep it fairly mild , on weekends / track nights crank it up a bit. Not sure to what leves tho , how much boost could a 351 take , i wouldnt mind throwing on a girdel for safe keepings. Or would i be bbetter off tring to come up with something 302 based , keep in mind id like this thing to really scream on the weekends... What you you guys do in this spot? Also , if i were to run the 351 , would a 2.5 cobra hood clear the intake , no matter what the motor im goin to put in a tublar k member & arms. would my auto tranny work with the 351 aswell?

A 351/SN95 thread here is like McDonalds, all over the fvcking place.

1.) takes money to do a 351 swap correctly.

2.) a 351 with a turbo is not a daily driver imo

3.) You can make a 302 a 10/11 second daily driver and still be very streetable, no need for a 351 to accomplish that.

3.) A girdle is a waste of time and money

My opinion..

i agree , 351 sn95 threads are everywhere but im looking mainly for pros and cons and suggestions. With the STS turbo , they claim you can run all day on 93 octane pump gas , to me , thats streetable. But with that being said , what kind of a 302 would you suggest? Im not use to tring to make something suitable for both worlds , its eather race or not. Id also like to use one of the blocks i currently have ( 2 90's 302s and the 351 )

Building a 331 out of your stock block, with forged internals and the turbo kit might not be a bad alternative... It will save you the 351
swap questions, and you'll still have enough power there when you need it.. You can always sell the 351 to someone locally looking for a block
to rebuild. If you want to get a little scary with the boost on "the weekends", you may want to look into an aftermarket block such
as the Boss or Dart blocks... The factory 351 blocks are stronger than the factory 302 blocks, but when you are putting a healthy h/c/i
stroker with a turbo on top of it, it's only a matter of time before something goes sideways.. Even with a safe tune and moderate
boost, you'll still be on pins and needles wondering when the block will let go..

was tring to stay away from stroking and turbo on this one , why i was leaning towards the 351
I don't know , a nice 331 or 347 wouldn't be a bad set up. But on the outher hand , i drive to lake of the Ozarks ( 4 hours away ) every outher weekend in it and I'm afraid it would take its toll quickly on a stroker motor am i wrong on this?
Ive considered just buying a 6 banger for the long haul down there , but i cant drive any thing that isn't a V8 , it just do sent feel right to me.... what kind of numbers can i expect out of a 306 turbo with 8 to 10 pounds of boost , any ideals?

a 331 or 347 will last just as long as a 351 if built right. Stroker kits now are not the same design they were 15 years ago...different size rods etc.

As far as what? If you're looking to do a turbo setup, there is no need for a stroker. You can make 500+ HP easily with a 302/306 setup.

As far as a transmission...what are your plans? This going to be a DD? Weekend car??

No power adder as of yet :crybaby2: unless you count the stroker as a power adder lol jk. Just got the motor put in there last week but its beastly without the power adder. Eventually I will go turbo though hence the low CR.
