When did the PI heads show up....

on the pick ups?was it 99 like the Mustangs or later?Don't they usually put the new stuff on the trucks first?
Anyone know for sure?We have got a shitload of 5.4's around here getting ready to be cored out,and I think I'm gonna grab
one.I figured it may as well be one with PI heads,so I have something decent to start with.

Yeah 1999 was the first year for the PI heads.

if i recall, the PI heads didn't show up on the trucks til later. What year exactly I don't remember and I don't have a link right in front of me right now.

All Ford V8's, in 99. They also all have the same port's, cams, everything. Be it PI truck or PI car. If you have a pic of the heads in question, a quick look will determine whether they are PI heads or not.

If you are going to look yourself, PI heads actually have the designation "PI" cast into them, with the part number.

Well I know for a fact the Mustangs got the PI's in 99 but the rest of the Ford CARS (Crown Vic/Grand Marquis/Town Car) didn't
get them until 01,but the trucks I'm not sure about.I've been noticing the PI #'s you're talking about on a sticker by the exhaust
ports on the head,but nothing on the # actually cast into the head.

Here's a good article, looks like only 99 heads had "PI" cast into them, which are the heads I had.

It would appear you are correct, they started to appear sporactically on other FORDS FROM 99 TO 01.
