I've had my car for almost a year, and it's finally up to speed. I'm ready to start modding. What are some cheap easy do-it-yourself mods that aren't gonna dry out my bank account? I don't need to go super fast just want to keep up with the crowd. I was thinking cold air intake, I almost have exhaust on it's way, and basic make-me-look-better parts can be put on hold. What else should I look for? Things that would make a difference for less than say, 200. Is that even possible?

Lastly, a buddy of mine has a 2000 V6 Stang. Is there any way that he could possibly beat me in a drag, if I'm a better driver?

Thanks Guys and Girls.

Your not gonna get much from bolt-on's. Gears, pi swap, f/i....those are what you need to kick some a--

But for some decent priced, noticeable mods...CAI....midpipe....you can find nitrous for fairly cheap nowadays.
You should be able to take your buddy's 6 IF you can drive.

give us some more info on your car

on a 5.0, intake swaps are fairly easy and give good hp increases.

CAI, exhaust, and a tune is always good

Has 200K miles, which is why I don't want extreme power. It was a daily driven highway car, so it is in decent shape. I'm actually now considering one of those "Bullitt suspension packages" that you can find almost anywhere, but I haven't really driven my car enough to know how the suspension is as is.

If its got 200K on it and you want to get some performance out of the engine the first thing is to rebuild the engine. It may run good and sound nice and be good for a daily driver since all the miles are highway, but if you are going to get on it I wouldn't trust it as far as you can throw it. Also, how are all the chassis bushings?
