I just got off the phone with Wade @ Silver Spirt Transmission in TN, where I got my TKX. Here’s what he said about the T56 Magnum vs the Magnum XL:

Casings are the same.
XL’s shifter is a little further back to fit the 2012 and newer Mustangs.
XL’s can handle more HP (mostly because of the Coyote).
Input shafts are the same.

He also said anyone can go to their website and visually compare what they look like.

Hope this helps…

60mph - 2025rpm +\-
65mph - 2200rpm
75mph - 2600rpm
80mph - 2800rpm

Given my current set up (347 stroker with 3.55 rear gears), how do you decide if a 2.66 1st gear ratio or a 2.97 ratio is best?
I drive a Modern Driveline T5 with the 2.95 first and 3.73 rear. It's a perfect combo i'd say. Multiply the numbers together to get the overall number. with mine that's 11/1 which is pretty much perfect.

I think you'd be happy with the 2.97 and 3.55. Total ratio is 10.47/1
I think the 2.66 first gear ratio would only match up well if you had steeper rear gears, like 4.10. total would be 10.9/1 then.

I'm stating this all in terms of being good on the street. in specific applications, like drag racing some guys might want a really high(numerically) overall first gear depending on tire size.
