Meh, i would say the 5.0

The 281 was just so under powered from the factory

But then again, i am a little pushrod biased

Basing it off of actual dyno numbers from the non-PI 4.6's

Dalamars with bolt ons put down around 175 hp.

Im not saying that the 5.0 put down tons of power, just driving the two side by side, the 5.0 feels faster.

Just my $.02

Dynos do not mean a thing on the track... It's like the NFL combine a guy runs a 4.2 40 and still can't catch the ball !

Yeah the 5.0 probably had a slight power advantage but it would still probably be a drivers race. It's kind of like what's better asparagus or Brussels sprouts? Doesn't really matter cause they both suck.

I would say the 5.0 stock and modified is faster than a npi 4.6 stock and modified. I own both actually. My 94 and my wifes 98. Stock for stock the 5.0 has more torque and is faster overall.

The 5.0 also had a little more torque. I am also pushrod biased, so I like the 5.0's and not a big fan of SOHC 4.6's. The 4.6 DOHC does however impress me. After having a 95 GT and running several 4.6's good and bad drivers I feel that the 5.0 has a small advantage even with a so/so driver. Again track and street are also different fields. You can get two cars several tenths difference and the slower car at the track could beat the faster one on the street.
