Going to check out a Tremec 3550 in the morning. If its good I will be bringing it home. I wont need but a bellhousing and clutch to put the motor in. Hopefully I find a tubular K-member from a Fox before that..

Got the TR-3550 , trans has less then 1000 miles on it.

Needs repair to the case or a new case, but I got a guy who says he can fix it. Cases are cheap so its not a big deal. Just not sure If I wanna go through the trans myself or pay someone. I always wanted to rebuild a manual trans.

Must have serious power to need that. Looks like it just keeps the top cover with the shift rails intact to the case.

Ordering the front bearing retainer for the transmission tomorrow and dowloaded the rebuild manual for it today. Once I track down a bellhousing I am gonna take the trans apart and see if the case is gonna be able to be welded up. A friend of mine says he can fix it. Keeping my fingers crossed. I have rebuilt a few auto trans without issues, I dont think it will be a problem to jdisassemble this trans and have the case repaired.. Trans doesnt need a rebuild kit, its basicly brand new. So I should be able to keep everything on the shafts and putting it back together should be easy.

I found a billet quadrant and adjustable cable on craigs for $40. Is that worth getting at that price?

I am going to get the Pro 5.0 shifter after the car is running.
@White95, did u run that GM synchromesh fluid in yours?

I still gotta pick which Mach wheels for the rear of my car, 10.5 DD or just 9". Already sold 2 of the stock wheels.. Wife keeps telling me to sell the other two stock Mach wheels and get the Magnum 500 wheels in 18x9-18x10.. Honestly It would cost me the same to get the Magnum 500 wheels as it will to buy the AFS 10.5 Mach reps. I am not sure the Magnum 500 wheels would look good on the Sn95 body style. I mostly see them on S197 and some new edge mustangs.

Said f*** it. I built a many things in my life, might as well add a manual trans to my list. Started tearing it down after lunch.

Removed the shifter and roll pins from shift rods.

Here is the top cover with a corner broken off. Should be an easy fix.

Then finished. Total of about 2 hours , but only cause I had to keep running inside to look at service manual on my pc.

Here is the damaged case. Jury is still out on rather it can be fixed. Need a bellhousing still.

BTW: All the parts, misc gears and shafts are separated into the coffee containers.

What 26 spline shaft do i need?

I tried looking for one last night after u posted this. problem is , in my parts book there are 3 different ford input shafts with 26 spline. They are all the same shaft diameter, same length and same pilot bearing diameter. I know the TKO 500/600 and 3550 all share some of the same internals. My 10 spline is 1 1/16" dia and the other three are 1 1/8" diameter. With 3 part numbers that match, can I use any of them?? I assume the larger diameter is what makes the other stronger.

I dont understand why there are 3 different part numbers for what seems to be the same shaft as far as dimensions go.

Got the motor up on the stand. Going to pull the heads. Seems someone got a little carried away with the engine enamel. Its on the RR's, springs, valve seals, valve stems and all in the heads.. Its pretty thick, way more then just over spray.. Rods and crank do have lots of over spray ,so I have alot of cleaning to do.

While the heads are off ,Going to port them a bit and put a different set of springs and retainers on the heads. new seals too since they need to come all the way apart. Also going with a little bigger cam.

I dropped off the trans case today for repair. Should be 1 to 2 weeks. Hopefully 1 week.

Not sure If I should order valve springs or not. Still on the fence about using the GT40p heads. Kinda want better flowing heads...

I have been looking, there is nothing thats in the range I want to spend. Yet!!

I came across some GT40Y heads but the guy just wants too much for them. I know they arent flow monsters like Trick flow and AFR but the GT40Y heads can be ported. I really want to use pedestal rockers. I would like to find some older twisted wedge heads that use pedestal rockers. Looking for cheap ones might be a long wait...The 40# weight savings is what I like. That with a Tube K member and A-arms equals over 100# gone from the front end.

I might be able to persuade a local friend to sell some old school, TFS High Ports BUT they've been ported so idk what the $$ would be.. Car [88 LX hatch] went high 10's [T5] and mid 10's [C4] with a 342 before rods let go...
