Who Else has Side Exhaust?

So I have been wanting a louder exhaust for a while now. The exhaust on my car is about the only thing that I haven't changed yet, and it's because I have been told that I can't...I was wondering if anyone else on here had side exhaust, and if so how did they make it work, and how did they hang it? I have told that if run pipes straight from the x pipe to the side tips with a muffler in the middle there won't be any where to hang it for support and it might ruin my ground clearance. I want the loudest exhaust possible. Thanks for any input :dancing6:

most side exhaust kits use mufflers that have the inlet and outlets on the front of the muffler like this.

They mount directly where the stock mufflers go so they can utilize the stock hangars.

ya that' how mine is configured, but isn't that pretty restrictive? My ehaust is too quiet for me too. I think I am losing some hp because of my exhaust...

It is kind of restrictive...but there aren't many options except custom. I'll pm you with a local shop I worked at that can easily do something for you in all mandrel bent tubing.

I used to run with side exhaust! I could not find a set up I liked, so my exhaust guy custom made me some. I had Stainless Works custom make me some tips just like, almost, the ones in that pic! There is not a lot of room, so I ran racing IMCO mufflers. They are about 5" long. I wanted to stick with my 40 series Flows, too long. Some said it was raspy, but I liked it! I then found the exact setup that's pictured! They were Borlas. I used them for about 3 months. They sounded great @ WOT. I am never @ WOT though! I went back to the IMCO's! I pulled a 180, now I run dumps! You want loud, go for that!!! I loved the 'look' of the sides, nothing compares to how it woke up my motor though!

Oh yeah! He used the factory hangers!

Sorry, just remembered something else. You see how those Borlas has the 'in' & the 'out' come out the same side? I could not find any like that, that sounded good! Flows has like a 80 or 90 series that does it. They're mostly ran on chevy's though! That's why I used the IMCO's. Flows has some that are the 10 series, I think. I thought I might have old pics, I don't! Here's 2 bad videos though. Not that good, but all I have.

I just got a spintech side exit kit with an O/R H. Its nice and loud. I only have ground clearance problems on the hills they call "speed bumps" at school but other than that, no problems.
this is what it looks like

I have just decided to get electric cutouts so I can have the best of both worlds...I think it would be pretty nifty trick to have... :coolsmiley:

Just to clarify, I already have a dynomax side exhaust kit installed on my car. All I was looking for was for a louder version of what I have. I think deciding to go with electric cut-outs will allow me to have both the loudest exhaust for the track and shows and the quietest for the cops and conversations on the cell phone if need be. Thanks for the input everyone I appreciate it.
