the main reason cars from the 60s are worth so much is cause they aint around, no big supply, crank up the demand. these SN95's will fair better later when the supply goes down, which is 20-30 years give or take. except my white cobra with black leather. it gets primo money and attention now and always, and yes, you do wish you had it.

I think we have the looks that can 1 day be considered a classic. I think it's 25 here in Texas?

Im in TX too. Its hard to say. A 25 year old mustang is what? a 1984 fox body? They look too much like a 1993 mustang? And if a 1993 mustang isnt a classic, then a 1979 mustang isnt a classic. They all just look old. Not saying they wont be. It just may take them a little longer to be considered one. Think about trucks, a 30 year old truck, is just an old truck. A 35 yo truck, is just an old truck. It takes them a whole lot longer to become classics in my opinion. Take a 2nd gen rx7 or any porsche 928. Though they can be registered as a classic, they are just too modern looking to be considered one.

As for the round body and new edge mustangs, its possible. Currently, to a non car enthusiast a clean one can be mistaken as being brand new. And yes, my 1994 has been confused as being "the new model" a dozen of times. Maybe after the 25year point, since the body styles are so different, they may be, but currently still too modern looking.

10-20 years ago no one cared about 60s and 70s mustangs... ...now they bring in 6 digit prices. My theory is after the baby boomers get their muscle car fix, the next generation will want classic german yuppie cars. Generation after that will seek out classic japanese tuner cars... ...and then finally we'll have our shot

I don't think that numbers matching is as big a deal as it once was, especially when our cars reach "classic" status in years. Even today if you look at the '60s muscle, the Resto-mods are bringing almost the same numbers as "restored to original, numbers matching" cars. I don't think you will see our cars approaching the $100k mark at any point. Heck, I don't think you'll see other modern day limited edition cars reaching that point or higher, like the Prowler, Maurader, GTO's...etc unless the sticker price for newer cars at the time are completely out of control.

Numbers still mean quite a bit with older cars. I'm sure they will mean a bit when our cars get old. A properly restored, concours level car with matching numbers will be worth much much much more than a restomod, any day of the week. The only restomods that could compare to that would be something like the 2nd Eleanor. Watch Barret Jackson sometime... I hate it because the TV has ruined the pricing on cars (everyone thinks there rusted bucket Camaro or Mustang is worth $10k) but it will show you what people are willing to pay nowadays. You can bet that the orginals will bring more than the ones that the show slaps a "custom" title on.

Yes i think the SN95 will be a classic, but no it will not have much monetary value. maybe if it's used in a movie in 30 years like the Gran torin it might climb some.

My thoughts on Future Collectors will be:
4-eye 5.0 T-Top Foxbodies
4-Eye 5.0 Coupes
Fox 5.0 Coupes
93 Cobra
93 Cobra R
1995 Cobra R
1995 Removable hardtop Cobra
Any Saleen S351
Low Production Saleens in general
1993 Shelby SSC - Fox
94-95 Cobra's might hold some value
1996-98 Cobra(Mystic and Yellow 98's)
Not sure about roush mustangs....never really followed them.
Some specialty cars like the SHM mustangs
Steeda might have some winners
I'm sure I forgot some.

personally, i think "classic" is a very generalized term. classic car means a lot of different things to different people. I think classic and i think GT350, or a boss 429 because my dad was a car guy and growing up he always told me about his first car. it was a '65 6er mustang in what he called ice blue. he used to tell me how his friends in highschool had boss's and one guy even have a gt500. my first car was a 1997 v6 mustang in pacifica green, tan clotch interior. nothing special. . . but it had a 5 speed and i thought that was just tops, a 5 speed mustang! the coolest right? and just like my dad my buddies all had cobras or modded GT's. and of course i was the slow one of the bunch but i stilled loved that thing. well life goes on, i crashed it one night and drove some crappy 88 town car for a while and then a pretty nice explorer limited. but every time i walked out to my car in the morning i just wished to god it was a cobra. finally i got ready to let go of the explorer and try to find what i always reeaalllly wanted, a 1996 Cobra mystic. throughout the search me and my dad looked at a lot of cars. one was a 1970 boss 302 that a guy was selling for 9k, crazy right. we took it for a test drive and i could tell from the look on my pops face he felt like he was 16 again. long story short, that one didn't work out. but after months on end of hunting i finally found a mystic and was able to do a clean trade with my explorer for it. it's got seats that are gone to hell and needs a repaint bad but every time i walk out to it in the morning i feel like i'm 16 again. will the prices ever warrent a home loan? who knows, i do know when i spent the 6 years oggling over mystic on ebay they were all at least 10k if not more out of my price range so maybe that foreshadows coming tales. even with my cobras shitty paintjob and ratty interior 9/10 people that see it go crazy for it. i've even gotten a few "now that's a real car right there"s. but to me, a classic is a damn good looking car that goes like hell and makes you feel like you did the day you got your license so in my eyes its already is a classic.

sorry for the mouthfull, just got me going a little bit.

just a brief afterthought, but one thing that will definately make our cars stand out in the crowd over time is the style of the body (for good or worse depending on who you ask). a lot of people tend to believe the new edges were more stylized but i have different thoughts to some extent. they're great looking cars, but if i wanted to pick an angular looking mustang i have some 48 odd years to sort through and i'm not sure they're at the top of the list, save the terminators. ours on the other hand are the only mustangs every produced with an aerodynamic or curved body style. and i don't think they're be making another rounded body style mustang for a long time if ever. so either way, they definately stand out in the lineage. who knows if that will help or hurt their price tags over the years but they look great to me, and still so distinctly mustang even though they're so far apart from their forefathers astheticly.

Beat way to think of it, how old are classics today like 20-30 years old? same for the sn95 to become a classic but the cool thing is the car will never go out of style mods will be up to date with the latest fads making the mustang a never ending competitor
