Im trying to figure out apprx what length my pushrods need to be. I know that there are variables that will determine this but Im using a set of AFR 205 heads on a stock block 351 and roller lifters. I'm just lookin to see what any of you have used. I may be making too much of it but this is driving me crazy. Im told any where from 7.8 to 8.2. And 2 people say high 6's. I do have the length checker but it's a lil confusing to me because how much I tighten the rocker also effects the length. Please help. Thank You.

You have to use the pushrod checker. You won't get anywhere guessing. Sorry.

Have you searched online for a how-to on using a pushrod checker? There's got to be something out there on it.

Thank You. I know that ultimately, that's what I need to do. I was just hoping for an easier way around it. Between the deck of the block not being at zero AND the heads being milled, I know there's no "for sure" answer.

The adjustable push rod should be pretty self explanatory. You install it in the fully compressed (shortest) size possible. Tighten the rocker down to spec. Then adjust the push rod out until its seated tight enough that it doesn't allow you to spin the push rod. As in, You just cant spin it with your fingers. Then un-install and measure. Unless yours has measurement marks on it you can read with it installed? The only style I've seen it doesn't have measurements on it. Or am I out of line with this? I had to measure push rod length once. From what I remember thats what the instructions were. You average the push rod length and thats what you order. You can shim the rockers if one is too long.
