I used to use the one on Speedworld's website, but it isn't there anymore.

I used this one http://www.race-cars.net/calculators/horsepower_calculator.html and came up with 816fwhp based on 3000 pounds and 9.81. If I plug in 9.65, which is what the car should run tuned, it comes out to about 850fwhp.

Here's another one http://www.streetrodstuff.com/Tech_Stuff/Horsepower_Calculator.php (this one is rwhp, and I'm talking about fwhp)

Roger figured the motor was making about 725 when it was a 427. That actually matches the calculators pretty well.

But, like I said . . I could give a rat's ass about what the actual hp is. All I care about is what it runs in the quarter and whether it does it consistently.

I beleive in the KISS principal, so 351 w is the easiest, cheapest, and certainly sufficient for your need's and desires.

Cleveland's, and better yet, Clevor's are just sooo sexy though.

all i know is that truuble's car is really fast and thats that

One of the fastest vert's I've ever seen :santa_afro:

i wouldnt say that but its def up there on the list

I have been asking for people to direct me to verts that are faster than mine. If you know of any that run 9s on motor, tell me where they are so I have something to shoot for!

I now have the spray sorted out and I think the car has 8.50s in it on the squeeze. I know there is one guy with an LX vert that's running 7.60s, but . . . anyone else?

What difference does it make if it's a convertible or not? Most people build drag cars out of coupes for increased rigidity and safety.

I could say that I have the fastest 422 ci silver convertible with A/C in all the land, but it wouldn't really mean much. Just my .02

Paul.

It would mean something if he wants to be the fastest vert.

Frankly, I'm after Jason Betwarda's title. He had the fastest Mustang vert ever and ran 7.teens. Ironically, he was killed testing a coupe.

Obviously, I have a LONG way to go to get the car into the bottom 7s or high 6s and it's not likely to happen on this particular engine. But, one must have goals in life.

Jason Betwarda and there's a TA or soemthing that's faster too I think. And it seems like there was a Fox back in the day, but my memory is fuzzy nowadays.

Hey, here's a thought, can you run with the top down if you want? And I'm honestly amazed it doesn't blow off or something at the speeds you trap anyway, lol

Totally off subject, but the best online calculators are the ones at www.slowgt.com, under the Racer's math section.

Also, You could possibly do a Windsor shortblock with Cleveland heads, but in all reality that's neither cost effective or easy to do.
Most if not all of the canted valve, big race heads that people use are Cleveland style heads, they bolt right up to big Windsor shortblocks, but will require either a special intake or special intake spacers.

You'd be better off just building a stout Windsor, it would be cheaper and easier.

There was a guy in Houston with a convertible Fox Saleen... I wanna say his name was Ben something... he was a cover car in Muscle Mustangs, or 5.0, don't remember.... that was a few years back. the vert got hit in the staging lanes and was totaled, so he took the combo out, and swapped it over to a new ride... I don't know if he was running that low... but i believe he was a solid mid 9 second car, possibly high 8's when he sprayed... but yeah, don't quote me on that, i'd have to do some research. he used to be a member over at Fordpower.net

I can run with the top down if I have a funny car cage and arm restraints . . just like a roadster.

I've always wondered whether it will slow the car down . . I'm betting it will.

You are correct, His name was Ben.

The Saleen went mid 9's before it got totaled, the new car has been low 8's already I believe, but the combo has changed dramatically.

Lou Proto may be the convertible fox that everyone is talking about from "back in the day" he's been around since the late 90's with the same 'vert. It runs in NMRA Super Street Outlaw now and has been 7.60's with a nitrous combo

Didn't Ben swap the engine and tranny combo into a NON vert Fox? i thought once the Saleen was totalled he swapped it over into a Coupe... Like i said, he was on Fordpower.net and i used to follow him. saw him in Ennis at FFW back in '04, then went to bootcamp. found out about the Saleen through a mutual friend back in Houston.

Ben now runs a turbo coupe that is either high 8's or really low 9's.... Not 100% sure on that.. But i do know that the vert would fly....
