I'm having a huge problem with this crap. According to my vin I have a Windsor. According to my 11 valve cover bolt I have a Windsor. There for I would need an 8 bolt flywheel. Well we took out my flywheel and it's 6 bolt. How the hell could that be? Is it possible that somebody put a 6 bolt flywheel by mistake when it should have been an 8 bolt?

no, if you change the flywheel, you cant bolt a 6 bolt FW to an 8 bolt crank, it just dont work.

windsors are funny. Ford didn't really care what crank/FW went into them. there was no set standard. whatever thay had is what they used. Some have 8, some have 6. theres really no way of telling with a windsor unless you take it out and look.

some may speculate with build dates and tranny options, but none of it matters. with a windsor, you never know until you get in there and look.

windsor used either 6 or 8 bolt flywheels. only way you're going to tell is if you pull the trans out and look. romeo 2v was 6 bolt flywheels. also, you can swap romeo heads on a windsor shortblock.

How do you figure that buy your vin your car has a windsor engine? the 96-98 mustangs were romeos, and it should have 11 bolt valve covers and a 6 bolt crank, as you say it does.
