Well, one of my next few steps was to build my rear. I have been on forums talking about rears and I had one guy from modularpowerhouse shoot me a PM. He is offering to sell me BRAND NEW 31 spline Yukon axles with a BRAND NEW 31 spline track lock that comes in the F-150s and Explorers. All of this shipped to me for $320. What do you guys think? Do you think a setup like this can take the power of my car just fine?

yes, that's a pretty good deal, most of the time for a good set of 31 spline axles and a tlock you are looking at about 280 for the tlock alone..

i don't know much about Yukon axles so i can not tell you much there.. i know of some people that use the explorer tlock but just remember that it's not going to be a built tlock just a stock tlock that happens to be able to handle a 31 spline axle..

should be good all the way to high 500- mid 600 hp range though..
anyone else care to jump in?

i wouldnt do it... but thats because I like to build it to last forever... my set up lasts till 750. ... your set up will last what you need now... probly up to around 450/500 then that diffy gets questionable (IMO.)

thats a cheep price... by that time you can take that out, sell it for $75 and buy what you need with your 450-500 set up :)

keep in mind this is a street car, has never seen the strip, and it is an auto (so less wear and tear on the rear). Well the axles should never be a problem, but I figured eventually when the differential clutches wear out than i could throw in the carbon clutches. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna hop on this.

that T-lock is $50 on ebay/craigslist.

when you pull the stuff out, get the axle tubes welded and that setup will handle all your little NPI can throw at it.

that's a factory cobra rear carbon rebuild kit. replace the clutches in your differential if they are worn (or in the new differential...)

but the differential is new. I was planning on doing the carbon clutches anyway to save myself the time/money from having to do it in the future. Or should I just keep the diff how it is and when the problem arises then upgrade to the carbon clutches

already hit them. This car is basically mechanically done, unless (when) the bottom end craps out on me. 400/400 is roughly where im at now.

id do it than... id do the clutches while it was out and gears if you want to do that... (373s at least... although most with autos prefer 410s. but if your car never sees the track, i suggest 373s)

:) congrats on your new buy! :-D

the car already has 4.10s in it, plus i have a Trickflow girdle sitting at home as well. So, I think I may make the purchase. Im definately going to go with the carbon clutch rebuild kit as well before putting it in...I would hate to do the same job twice.

one part that's completely irrelevant. the center carrier is just that, a housing. the wear parts are the clutches which go inside it and the gears that bolt to it. no part of the carrier wears unless something explodes, so there is absolutely no difference between your new one and the $20 one I lay in the mud to yank out of a f150.
