So I'm driving my car home from work this morning, out of nowhere I start hearing a little squeal! Im thinking it's probably my belt, I think it's no biggie I'm almost home I will check it when I get there. I get home pop the hood and try to see if maybe one of my pulleys is seazing up thereby causing the squeal ( I have had an alternator pulley, and a power steering pump seize up in the past and that's what it sounded like to me!) :confused1: I now hear nothing when I check under the hood the noise is mysteriously gone :angry7: I go to sleep, wake up at 3p.m. I decide to go to my parents house to help them out with some stuff, im about 10 minutes away from their house when all of a sudden I hear a horrible squeal and now some serious smoking coming from under the car, im in bumper to bumper traffic so it takes me a few minutes to pull over on a 6 lane divided street, car is smoking im worried :crybaby2: I turn off the car and look everything over, start the car again the noise comes and goes! wtf :BangHead: I'm confident it is not my engine or any of the pulley's at this time! so I start moving the car a bit and realize that my throwout bearing shit the bed! :angry4: and it was smoking the clutch, now I gotta take the exhaust and tranny down and see what has to be replaced! but minimally im looking at a new clutch kit, a new bearing, pressure plate resurface or replacement, and a new clutch cable for preventative maintenance :sad5: What a horrible day!

Wow, ironically this EXACT thing happened to my car about 3 months ago. I pulled it apart, and to my luck NOTHING was messed up except the TOB itself. Clutch disc, and pressure plate were perfect, and suprisingly the flywheel didnt even have the slightlest nick or hotspot on it, which blew my mind considering theres like 10-15 little bearings inside the actual race that I figured would have annihilated the flywheel (wow long sentence :D)

Hopefully you're as lucky as I was man, keep us posted

Im taking the tranny down in a few days and checking the damage from there! but im assuming that with all the smoke I saw the disc is shot and the flywheel is toast! but hey im going in there expecting to see some fried clutch component's so maybe I will be as lucky as you! but in my case I will say that if I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all...
