WTF is this?

With my oil pressure issues I decided to go with a Canton pan and pickup. Pulled the motor and dropped the pan. Look what was inside. Have no idea where this came from. A small screw, wire/clip looking thing, and something that looks like a machining debris or casting flash.

Where can the clip and screw be from? Can't be from inside?

Found a piece of the clip looking thing inside the oil pump...

Got a new Melling pump .. Again .. and got everything put together. The pan has built in trap doors to keep oil in the pan under hard braking and turning.

The clip looks like it may be off of a lifter. I have the same pan and there do not appear to be any screws in the such as the one in your picture in the doors or sump area. Who knows????

From a eBay speed shop. 340 for pan, pickup, and oil dip stick.

they have them for 5.0 or 4.6

Maybe I should pop the lower intake to check before it goes back in. This is a 15-644 called a road race pan. I think the 15-620 looks almost the same but does not have trap doors just baffles.

Holy shit Rich how the hell hard you been riding her man? LOL honestly I couldn't even begin to tell you where that screw came from... Hard to tell from the pic but does the screw look like it was snapped off? I'd definitely start looking around to make sure something that needs, say 3 screws, doesn't have 2

Took the top end off ...

Found 3 of my lifters were missing the little clips on the top.

Got 3 lifters from the spare motor and all betta now.

I'd feel better if I found the 3rd clip, but I bet that one is in the old pickup tube. The little sheetmetal screw I doubt is from the motor. I can't find anywhere that may be for it. I bet it just somehow got in there from te build. Or it fell in the pan when I had the pan off with the motor lifted previously, when I changed the oil pump.

And its probably good your filter didn't catch that, your lifters could have been ready to fail, and you might not have found that lose screw, and so on and so forth
