to check if gaps are even get a piece of cardboard and run it down between them. If its grabbing on one side and sliding easily on the other you have your answer.
the gaps are uniform. the fronts just have 1mm more gap than the rear of the door.

I agree and that is why this confused me saying they are uniform and 1mm off.the gaps are uniform. the fronts just have 1mm more gap than the rear of the door.
I would try putting the console back in before you declare victory to be sure it will still fit if you plan to use it. I was surprised to discover when painting part of the dash that the center of the vehicle is off just a tad so that the drivers side is a little larger than the pass side by about an inch or two.
i thought about that but here's where i landed. the passenger side cant' go where it needs to so it would need to be relocated from firewall to the strut tower corner. most strut tower braces don't connect to the firewall and my firewall. they are intended to tie the strut towers together. given the thickness of the main bar i'd say that's achieved. as for the legs, the inner fenders and strut towers are seam/stitch welded in addition to the through the floor subframe connectors and MM k member with its bracing on the bottom.I would've left both strut support legs intact. I had a similar issue on my '02 and made new bends on one tube and relocated the other. It adds the needed support for the whole setup. Welded them up and had re-powder coated.
