'03 interior finally in!

Well, I finally swapped in my 03 interior and am almost done with it. I've had the 03 seats for a couple of years already along with a 03 center console that I painted to match the stock black interior. My main reason for doing the swap is that my stock dash had a crack on the top front pass side from the air bag deploying when a deer attempted to commit suicide (he failed).

The only things left to install are the stereo which I can't make up my mind on if I want to install the 6 disc changer I have or go with an in-dash screen. Also left to do is install the ignition key black cover, headlight knob, and floor mats which are all in my storage still.

I hated doing this swap and it took longer then I expected, mainly because I really didn't want to do it.

Nice man...I changed my interior over to black...but I didn't mess with the dash, way too involved. How the hell did you get it out? We tried to take the dash out of our parts car this summer...and it ended up coming out with sledge hammers...

Thanks for the link Javi, I needed one more bullitt pedal since I ruined one of them when installing. The other one you can kind of see in the trunk area in one of the pics. I replaced the entire dash but there is a difference in the fuse panel location metal bracket. I drilled out the spot welds in my original one and removed the bracket and vice versa on the new one. I didn't want to have anything hanging or zip tied so thats the reason for it. I'll post a pic of that later on today. The dash isn't that bad to remove, just time consuming, theres 11 bolts holding it to the firewall and all are easily accesible. The dash harness must be removed with the dash bc if you don't then you will be hating life and will probably just burn the car to the ground from frustration. All the connections can be unclipped at the driver and passenger side kick panel areas.

I took the dash out as 1 entire unit on my parts car..... Came out easy cake. There are write ups that show how to take it would without removing anything from the dash!!!

Yea well we didn't need the dash...only the wiring harness behind it...so the sledge hammers worked much faster and were a lot more fun :tongue3:

I beg to differ. I bet i took the dash out of my parts car way easier just by taking out the screws than you did using a hammer.

I had it out in only a few minutes. Followed the write up that listed every screw location and the order to take them out. I then was able to completely remove the dash from the car without removing the Gauges, airbags, AC stuff, Nothing. Its amazing how easy it came out cause out cars are designed legit.

what is the advantage other then it is not cracked, doesn't have the clock pod and has the cup holder? Was it to change the color?

^^^Color change to match my 03 seats, double din stereo, and no clock. I've always liked the charcoal interior better and a plus is that it looks "newer" with the healiner and lack of clock pod. I had an 03 center console in the car with the black interior already that I painted to match so the cup holder thing I had already done a few years back.

gotcha. I like my clock pod too much to get rid of it, but I did get rid of the clock some time ago.

should/could have been a factory option IMO.

ttocs, thats a very nice mod! I always wanted to do away with the clock and do something like you did but I knew that I was going to end up swapping the interior so I never did.

I have to agree with you on this. It's very easy taking out the dashes on these cars if you know what you are doing. Compared to other cars/trucks these are quite easy. I needed help taking the dash out and putting it in since I didn't want to scratch anything, they aren't the lightest when fully assembled.
