Hey guys, i have a black mustang and am getting some black chrome fr500 18x9 on front and 18x10 on rear.
now the question is what size tires to go with.
On the rear i wanna put the widdest tire possible but i dont want them to rub,
My car is lowered and before i had 275 with a 1" spacer and i pulled my fenders with the tires....
any suggestions??? and i wouldnt mind having to roll my fenders for fitting, but i rather not.

Thank s a lot

I went with a 295/18. It can fit more but my car is fairly low and the roads suck here so my suspension gets a good workout everyday.

I can tell you that a 335 40 17 will rub if you are turning hard, with stock suspension but they look cool as hell.

There are way too many factors to just be able to pull a number out for ya.

With that being said, 315's are probably the most common tire size as far as wide tires on a 10"+ rim.

Every car is different though, depending on how low the rear end sits, what kind of exhaust is under the car, quadshocks... etc. Some people roll their fenders, use BFH on inner fender well, it all depends on how much trouble you want to go through.

As mentioned a lot of variables one being the rear spring rates. A soft rate will cause the car to lean on a hard turn and I can guarantee 295's will rub the fender as they sit flush (what I have), 285's however give you more room.
Here is a piture of my car with 285's w/steeda springs & tokico hp shocks

The tires were tucked in enough that they never rubbed on hard turns.
The only pic I have from the rear with the 295's on but it's hard to see due to the shadow how much more further out they are. Just use the rear bumber as a reference and you can get an idea

Also thank God I went with MM adjustable lowers, as you can see I had to raise the arse end up to stop the rubbing. 10 minutes to raise both sides up =WIN

295 is NOT guaranteed to rub.I have run a 295/35 /18 forever with no issues.like stated this is a car to car type situation.one of the biggest factors I know for a fact if it rubs and doesn't is good/bad upper control ARM bushings, the reared housing ones in specific.I now run 315/30/18 and they are great.had trouble with shit bushings but after replacing u have to have quite a bit of weight.in the car or take abturn pretty harf, and my car is pretty damn low.

295's and up are guaranteed due to width whether or not you have the set up to avoid that is another question. 285's and under will not rub the fender since they sit back enough to avoid the fenders all together. That is why sites recommend 285's for 10" rims.
BTW before the 295's went on the upper and diff bushing were replaced (oem bushing as per MM recommendation) and I still had to raise the back end up.

Looking at the chart I would say the rear H&R sport springs would reduce peoples chances of rubbing due to the high starting spring rate @275.

Yea bushings make a big difference . I'm running Spherical bushings in the diff with double adjustable uppers with heim joint on the chassis end and perchless lowers with a heim adjustable end. My wheels are half like a half inch gap between the top of wheel well and top of tire And sit nearly flush. Sounds like toiko hp shocks are sloppy.

i have 295s and it looks to me like i would have enough room for 335s without rubbing, but i have coil-overs, quad shocks removed, rolled lips, and 1/4" spacers.

Looks like I am going to have to roll the fenders. After a few weeks of daily driving with the 295 Invo's I am getting some rubbing on the outside. I was rolling down the highway @ 90 and took a off ramp that had a nice dip that caused a slight bottoming out and the fender lip actually shaved a slice out of my rear tire. Never had that happen with the 285's I had on for 5 years.
