Hello....I have a 94GT with a bad T5{second gear spins w/clutch pedal down} i have a fresh world class T5 from another project laying around{unused} I know the two are different but can i simply put the 94 output shaft and bearing retainer on the older T5 and use it ??? Is this something a regular engine building gearhead do?? Doed any bearings need to be pressed on or off or what? Thanks for the help. Troy

No. I believe the 94+ has a taper bearing whereas the one in the foxbody T5 doesn't. I'm sure someone else can chime in here to validate.

I thought the input shaft was the only difference, the 94/95 ones being longer than the foxes. Don't quote me though i'm not 100%.

Didn't all the T5s starting in 1994 have a tapered roller pocket bearing rather than the individual needle bearings like the earlier ones?

No, it's a crap shoot whether or not it had the tapered roller bearing or the needle bearings. Yes, you usually can just swap the input shafts and bearing retainer and use the older trans. You will be miles ahead if you take it to the local T5 guru and have it shimmed and let him do the swap. If you dump the needle bearings out into the trans or you put the thrust bearings back in the wrong order, you will f up the trans for sure or at least have to pull it further apart. It will need shimmed regardless when you change the input shaft. Hope this helps.

That's what I thought too, but I did have some standard GT T5's come in with tapered bearing, very wierd.
