hello, new here, and have a question about my gt. will the stock computer with no chip or tune be able to keep up with a trickflow stage 2 cam, trickflow tfw 170 heads with 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust, and a track heat upper and lower intake? I also plan on bumping up the compression while i have the motor out of the car, the motor is being torn down and being freshened up. i have been reading up on these cars having computer issues and want to get a better understanding of this so i know what to expect. thanks

from what I hear, it should run and be ok but there could be surging issues. But with out a doubt there are numbers to be gained from a tune besides just the drivability being improved so if you are putting money into it to get more out of it then I would.. If you have the cash then go and do it. If it breaks the budget then put it all on and see how it goes. If you need it then you will know its time to break out a credit card or something but sooner or later it should be on your list of upgrades.1

i'm assuming your putting in bigger injectors also w/ matching MAF. with a stage 2 cam and bigger injectors more compression i highly doubt the car will run very well. factor in a tune into your budget.

as for bigger injectors and calibrated MAF definitely, i just didnt include it in the list of mods, i was taken it for granted that everyone who does those kinds of mods knows to upgrade injectors and such. but since im here talking about it what size injectors, MAF, and Throttlebody are recommended. The car came with a bigger fuel pump since the guy i got it from was running boost before i grabbed it just not sure what size pump i got.I dont believe he had the car tuned. although he had a diablo chip he was willing to sell. I'm guessing an already programmed chip won't do me any good? I just wanted to try to avoid any start up issues upon firing it up for the first time without racking my brain as to why it wont run!

Get a tune. If you're spending thousands of dollars on a motor build, spend the extra $500 or so and get a dyno-tuned chip.

30# is what i would get. 24s would probably do the job but the 30s would give you room to grow. as far as the fuel pump, go with a 255 LPH. throttle body, get the same size as the opening to the intake which for the trick flows I believe are 75mm.

The calibrated meters without a tune is usually the cause of most peoples problems , if you want the problems gone you would be best to keep the stock MAF and get a tune for the 24s with that setup ....
