i use 1/4 in spacers on the front. my 03/04 wheel lip scrubbed the coil-over very slightly. i have 275s and a steeda front sway bar. i just got the wheels yesterday and the place who swapped my wheels let me know what was going on and recommended small spacers. i dont drive full lock ever so i dont care.

I have spacers in the front also but I haven't measured them. I think they are 1/4" and still rubs at full lock. I really only notice it when making u-turns or backing out of the garage, L shaped driveway.

One reason is grip. Have you seen john griggs cobra? He runs 315's all around when racing but he has custom fender work done so they don't rub. Another would be to get the most grip out back as you can and still be able to rotate the tires.

depending on what kind of tires you have 275's up front will track pretty bad on uneven road surfaces. Depending on tread design but Ive had 255's track pretty bad too.

LOL... I did it strictly for looks! I love the beefy wide tire all around look...my car is a summer only driver never in the wet & I wanted a certain look just for fun. I do get a tremendous boost in grip due to the wide tires in the dry that I love...the tracking problem is VERY mild, no worse than my stock tires were...they only slightly kiss the swaybar when I turn full lock to the right..not any on the left....now that I know I never hit it anymore...so why not go as wide as possible?? Looks great & really gets the comments!

My car does it real bad with 245s. There is a name for that but I can't remember what it is, tramlines or something. I don't think the width or the tire effects it as much as the tread pattern. It gives you a real good feel for the road though.

Pretty sure its called Tracking. The Tread pattern is the main cause but the wider the front tire the more it amplifies the situation.
