I have an automatic 98 GT and its stock except for the cold air intake and super 40 exhaust. I want to make 300-400 HP all motor. Eventually I will add a turbo or a supercharger but not sure which yet :tongue3: Does anyone have tips on how to make that much HP and what the budget might look like. I just put the car in the garage so im ready to build just not sure where to start. Oh and I also have a PI Manifold.

Well..to start...

If you want that kind of N/A HP, start looking at the TFS heads. Your not going to get anywhere near 400WHP from PI's, even once they are hocked way out.

Second, you'll need cam's. Before you choose, please decide on if your going turbo or blower (If blower, which style ie. TS, Centri, etc). You cant have cam's are great N/A that work well for Boosted apps, and turbo cams are different than blower (s/c) cams etc. So try to plan out a little.

Third, Once you get to desired N/A HP, hate to be the bearer of bad news but you wont be able to run much boost unless you got the giant chanbered TFS heads, then you would still be running a high 9 CR. Boost + high CR on stock shortblock = no bueno. Just warning.

Might be a good idea just to get some hitech cams and PI heads/intake as mentioned above, then start building an engine if you want to go crazy with a blower etc.

NOW PLEASE READ: This is not to say you cant run low-ish boost on a PI swapped NPI shortblock, but anything around/over ~450hp will be in connecting rod snapping territory. Just be careful, and try to plan out as much as you can.

pi swap, l/t's and a good set of cams N/A will put you right around 300 horse. If you wanted a little more you could always do nitrous.

Figure out what you want to do exactly then make a plan. I have said this a million times. What do you want to do with the car? You can put pi heads, com 270's, pi manifold and get a good tune and make 300. If you do a full pi swap, stock pi cams and toss a vortech si on there you should see 400 ish(just did an install on one a few montsh ago and he was at 430ish his first pull, we detuned and made it real safe 390ish)

I know of a carbed 2v that went 9's and made over 5 at the wheel.

What I want to do is im leaning towards a vortech supercharger later on in the build when I get the money. So I guess what would be a good setup to support the vortech and make good HP.
