not a whole lot thats for sure. the bottle neck is your heads and intake, not the bottom end. spend that money on better heads and intake for your 302 and you'll make a boat load more power that way.

the stock rotating assembly will take more power then the block. a 302 with h/c/i will walk all over a 347 with stock h/c/i

A greater truth has never been told.

vs putting 1500+ into a bottom end and have the block crack and wipe it out too?

you can reliably make 500 rwhp with stock shortblock and it will live a long time. tune it right and keep the rpms below 6200

Id rather pop a $500 shortblock. If my block (stock block 347) breaks, I can kiss my entire rotating assembly goodbye, and it will likely take my $400 camshaft with it.

Money is better spent on the h/c/i right now.

A 347 with a stockish topend will still gain in the torque department. We had one that didn't make good power numbers, but the driveablility was good and torque numbers were great.

Think about it this way. Its basically a 351 with E7's and a stock intake, just like the F1-450's had in the 90's.

Good call... Either that or a blower.

Where did you hear that you would blow your car up with a 75 shot on a HCI 302? Just want to know :)

Your either reading some really bad info or your friends are morons, or both. Put H/C/I on the 302 and throw a 75 shot at it. It will be fine. No engine is going to explode from a 75 shot unless its on the verge of death. The stock crank will handle a lot of power before it becomes an issue. Like was said before your stock block will crack before the crank goes out. The stock block will handle around 500 HP with a good tune. A H/C/I Combo with a 75 shot is no where near 500 HP. Building a 347 just to use a 75 shot and then putting stock heads/intake on it is just a huge waste of money

i have worked on stock 302 long blocks that took 300 for almost a full season before losing a head gasket

my stock shortblock made close to 600 for almost 10 years. the tune on whatever you saw blow up was wrong or was over rev'd, or bounced the rev limiter while spraying.

A 75 shot and an HCI will hold together for pretty much forever as long as it has a proper tune and you don't bounce off the limiter everytime you shift. Many people on here have run 100-125 shot and other bolt ons and never had a problem.

I think it was either bad luck or maybe a bad driver. Shit happens. With my HCI and 100 shot I dont see an issue..
